How To Remove iCloud From iPhone Before You Trade-in

Removing your iCloud account is crucial when preparing your Apple device for trade-in through services like Sell My iPhone. This step ensures your personal data is safeguarded and the device is ready for its new owner. Let's walk through the reasons for this and the necessary steps.

What is iCloud, and Why Does it Need to be Removed?

iCloud is Apple's cloud storage and computing service, which nowadays is integral to the functioning of any Apple device to back up and store your data. It synchronises and holds your photos, documents, contacts, and more, keeping them accessible across all of your devices.
Removing iCloud is an essential step before trading in your iPhone, and failing to do so can delay the trade-in and your payment. Each Apple device is tied to the user's iCloud account, and only that specific user can remove the account from the device. This means that when we receive a device with an iCloud account linked, we are unable to process and test the device until the account is removed.
